To many Singaporeans, Tai Chi has always long stereotyped to be for the weak and elderly. I used to have that impression too until I picked up Tai Chi myself. I chose Tai Chi initially because it seems to be less rigorous and physically draining compared to other sports, very suitable for a passive person like me.
However, I was quickly proven wrong after attending some basic lessons. Movements that are taught in class that may look simple are actually very complicated to execute in practice. Not only do I reap the physical benefits, the understanding of Tai Chi techniques made me more appreciative and aware of our ancestors’ wisdom and heritage. Having found Tai Chi to be such an enriching experience, I decided to become a disciple in the Wu’s Association, introduced by my friend Mr Goon who is now my instructor. I will like to thank you- SiFu and all my other instructors especially Ms Saw and Mr. Goon; for their continuous guidance and support in a fascinating sport that I have a deepening interest in.
