During my sessions students learn a set of warm-up exercises, basic Wu style walking, and the 108-move form, focusing on correct posture and coordinated movement. We will also explore some of the martial applications that are expressed in the forms.
I tried tai chi as a foreign student in south China in the mid 1980‘s, and after returning to Canada, was fortunate enough to find Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy in Toronto. The systematic way that tai chi chuan was taught both as a health exercise and martial art was very impressive and I joined up. In the 1990‘s, while living on Canada’s west coast and teaching Mandarin at a local college, I translated the Gold Book. Since moving to Ottawa Ontario in 2001, I periodically visit the Toronto club to further my learning. In 2012 I became a certified instructor, and began teaching in Ottawa. As an instructor of Wu style tai chi chuan I am dedicated to improving my skills and promoting this rich tradition.
